Text Ads - Text Ads

Affiliate link text ads

Thank author of this post/commentAffiliate link text ads are a choice I see often in Affiliate Junction and sometimes I take a second and pause and think hmmn. But the eye candy value of an icon is always more visually dynamic I can't pass it up, even if it does slow down the load for my site.

Thank author of this post/commentSometimes the "eye candy" is obnoxiously, off topic and will do more to distract users from your content than earn you revenue.

Place a few relevant text links (and many from CJ are stupidly worked -- as they promote the name of the website and not the concept) in good locations and watch the money flow.

Thank author of this post/commentPersonally, I think text links are the better choice. You work very hard on your site, do you really want to drive people away by slowing down your load time? There are some people, believe it or not, still using dial-up.

Thank author of this post/commentI was one of those people still using dial up until a few months ago. Text ads, in my opinion, work way better. Ofcourse they need to be relevant to your site. I will ignore an ad completely if it doesn't seem remotely like what I need.

Thank author of this post/commentThere is something to be said for a text link that says it plain and simple without being in your face. I'm not that concerned about slowing down a site with a banner/button because most people do have broadband these days, but text links are very effective.

Thank author of this post/commentAffiliate links will not contribute anything to your sites link popularity. That is because they generally run through some sort of click tracking software which takes care of billing etc.

If you are considering buying text links, you should contact a text link broker as they will ensure you get the most value for the links you buy. If you want to measure return on those links you could then track those with your analytics package.

For example, if you use Google analytics you could set up a campaign for the referring domain where the link appears, and then assign a value to it - you can then determine your CPC on that text link.

But the biggest reason for buying text links is the link popularity you will earn from them. Since most search engines use some form of link popularity, the more highly visible links you get from other related sites the better.
