What do you win?

Thank author of this post/commentFrom what I'm reading, the SEO contests sound like they'd be fun. What do you win if you win the contest? Is there a prize or is it pretty much just a "bragging rights" kind of thing?

Thank author of this post/commentI think pretty much bragging rights... and if you are in the SEO business those bragging rights might be worth a lot.

But like in the other discussion many wonder if these contests reflect the real world, or just do great to promote those behind the contest.

Thank author of this post/commentWell I have entered a lot of survey sites that pay in either points or money. However, some of them offer prizes but the prizes have various little rules. i.e. these things (like Ipods) can be yours if you accept andy two of their money offers AND refer people to the same site.

When I see these I simply delete them for two reasons. 1. I don't want their offers and 2. Most of them are only for U.S. citizens and when I get to the end of the information the "State" is required and nothing for "Provinces" of Canada so they are worthless to me.

I really object to the time wasted though just going through the process so hence the "delete" gets hit more than the "let me see more" button.

Thank author of this post/commentMost of the survey sites I have joined, you earn points for prizes. There are a few that pay by check or paypal. As far as SEO contests I have mostly came accross contests with bragging rights won. I would love to enter some contests with some big prizes.

Thank author of this post/commentEven if they offered a big prize, I don't know enough about SEO to ever win it. I guess I'm just more curious about it than anything. If there were monetary prizes from this, I imagine someone really good at SEO could really clean up. But I guess bragging rights might be good enough if SEO was something you did for a living.

Thank author of this post/commentWell, most of the survey sites I belong to award points for completing their surveys and you collect points similar to air miles. When you reach certain milestones then you can either turn the points into cash or merchandise.

HOWEVER, most of the sites have their point limits so high that you need to do at least a year's worth of surveys just to get close to being able to turn it to cash or merchandise.

The survey sites that offer IPods for buying something AND referring people as far as I'm concerned are shysters.

Thank author of this post/commentYeah you will never reach the amount of points needed in most cases, unless you are allowed percentages of referral points. Even then they don't offer tons of surveys, but maybe just a few per month. I wouldn't even bother.
