Paying for RSS feedsRSS - RSS
Paying for RSS feeds I wanted to use the RSS feed from CNN Money on my website which is basically non-commercial, but does carry some ads to defray hosting costs etc. I emailed CNN several times to the email address provided for anyone wanting information about the terms of their site, asking if it was permissible to go ahead and use the RSS feed. All I got back each time was a standard automated message thanking me for my interest in their site! Seems a pretty poor show to me.
I would just go ahead and use the feed. Worst case scenario is that they ask you to stop, but chances are they don't really care one way or the other, as any link a user clicks one will take them straight to their site anyway.
I doubt whether there would be any real objection by any big sites to using their RSS feeds. They all stick in a rider about the feeds only being for your personal non-commercial use, but which sites are purely for personal non-commercial use? Just adding google adsense would disqualify you!
If you have had it on your site for some time without any reaction from anyone, then I would take it that there is nothing whatsoever to worry about. No one seems to object to anything which sends traffic to their website and an RSS feed is going to do just that for whomever generates the feed.
I have used RSS feeds from a number of the big sites without any problem. The very purpose of them providing these links is to get people onto their sites and there shouldn't be any objection to you using them.
