Spam I have heard many places that once offered paid posting are no longer doing this due to spam. I really don't know much about the topic of spam effecting paid posters. If someone could enlighten me, that would be greatly appreciated.
I believe some paid posters will just make a very short irrelevant posts just to add to their post count. They "spam" the forums in an effort to get paid. Why would a site owner want to pay for that? If someone wants to take on the responsibility of paid posting, they should take the time to make sure their posts are well written and on topic.
Sure some people try to do a little as possible to make as much money as possible. It may even work in the short term. Of course any service offering paid posting is going to ensure their writers have some ability and stardards to meet. That is the key to decent on topic messages and crap. Spam would be messages (well written or crappy) simply trying to sell something -- and not on topic. I don't think anyone would mind messages here that would link to various websites trying to sell something-- as long as the messages posted were well written and the websites were about webmaster and seo stuff.
When a forum pays for paid posters they should make sure that the company has a good reputation. At least, that's what I would do.
That is a hard task to ask a developing business to turn away new business. Who knows where it could go?Look at lotrplaza. That went global in every language. But the admins got so mean people left. Now they give triple points and people still don't come. I looked at forumboosters.com but they didn't seem to keep up or have new customers.
Sure I see what you are saying now. Paid Posting businesses I guess need to make sure their posters are top quality so that the forums that want paid posters get what they want. I wasn't thinking about that, but I do see it all the time on forums where people spam. I hope those guys aren't getting paid. What losers.
SPAM is an unfortunate issue that has to be dealt with on most forums. Even the very best forums out there tend to be bombarded with SPAM and need some level of moderation. I am an active member of forums that have 30+ moderators. Of course they are huge and need to keep an eye out for that sort of nonsense on a daily basis. I read an article in Wired magazine recently about a SPAM king in Russia. It was disturbing to say the least.
We filter based on a lot of keywords and specific urls. If you use-a-lot-of hyphenated words on here you'll probably have trouble posting. The other key is to avoid the automated posting scripts.
Paul Roupinian ... what is (or was) forumboosters.com? Seems to be dead now (cannot be found). Was it a paid to post site or something?
forumboosters.com: Expiration date: 11 Nov 2006 17:12:20.Maybe someone will grab the domain.
