If you look at a service like PR WEB, I think you'll find that the main "audience" is the search engines. You can get some direct traffic when the releases end up on yahoo and google news. You'll also get a bit of traffic from all the sites that copy of the press releases to build their sites content. Will it get you in the local newspaper? I'm not too sure about that. There was a magazine (print) for Radio and Talk Show hosts. An ad in that magazine would get you on anywhere from a handful to hundreds of radio and tv talk shows.
There's a specific format for press releases, and I know how to write one from my marketing book, but I don't know what to write about, and all the other steps. I should pay someone to do it for me.
Press Releases are not that difficult to write. The difficult part is to find the press release that is going to create an intrest in the masses. Most Press Releases that you hope will go further and end up in magazines have specific guidelines. What you need to do is find out the guidlines and topics of the magazines you want to be quoted in. It takes some practice but as you know practice makes perfect. No one hits a grand slam on their first time to bat.
Conflict always works too.... look at your daily newspapers or maybe the most popular media of all... Soap Operas!Get the right conflict and your press release will see the world!
What kinds of conflict are we talking about? I am interested in find a press release template. But when the sites use the pres release can they use the free content without a reference link?Who do you send the press releases to? Where do you send them?
I know exactly how to write press releases, but to find something that is relevent to my business, it's just hard.
Press releases are not that hard to do. I have sent them to my local newspaper. I am not very sure about the conflict idea. Bad press from the start of a company isn't a good thing.
Billy, thanks for sharing that link to PRWeb. I had never heard of them before and was looking for something like this. I'm going to check them out a little later on.
I know that a company called Blogitive uses bloggers to write about a "press release" for their clients. The "press release" needs to be at least 100 words and they give you a brief description of what the press release is about.
