Press releases

Thank author of this post/commentI am often asked to write press releases for web sites but i never get the feeling anybody reads them.

In this ay and age, can we get a re evaluation of how the press release works? Who uses it for online media anymore?

Thank author of this post/commentIf you look at a service like PR WEB, I think you'll find that the main "audience" is the search engines. You can get some direct traffic when the releases end up on yahoo and google news.

You'll also get a bit of traffic from all the sites that copy of the press releases to build their sites content.

Will it get you in the local newspaper? I'm not too sure about that.

There was a magazine (print) for Radio and Talk Show hosts. An ad in that magazine would get you on anywhere from a handful to hundreds of radio and tv talk shows.

Thank author of this post/commentThere's a specific format for press releases, and I know how to write one from my marketing book, but I don't know what to write about, and all the other steps. I should pay someone to do it for me.

Thank author of this post/commentPress Releases are not that difficult to write. The difficult part is to find the press release that is going to create an intrest in the masses.

Most Press Releases that you hope will go further and end up in magazines have specific guidelines. What you need to do is find out the guidlines and topics of the magazines you want to be quoted in.

It takes some practice but as you know practice makes perfect. No one hits a grand slam on their first time to bat.

Thank author of this post/commentConflict always works too.... look at your daily newspapers or maybe the most popular media of all... Soap Operas!

Get the right conflict and your press release will see the world!

Thank author of this post/commentWhat kinds of conflict are we talking about? I am interested in find a press release template. But when the sites use the pres release can they use the free content without a reference link?

Who do you send the press releases to? Where do you send them?

Thank author of this post/commentI know exactly how to write press releases, but to find something that is relevent to my business, it's just hard.

Thank author of this post/commentPress releases are not that hard to do. I have sent them to my local newspaper. I am not very sure about the conflict idea. Bad press from the start of a company isn't a good thing.

Thank author of this post/commentBilly, thanks for sharing that link to PRWeb. I had never heard of them before and was looking for something like this. I'm going to check them out a little later on.

Thank author of this post/commentI know that a company called Blogitive uses bloggers to write about a "press release" for their clients. The "press release" needs to be at least 100 words and they give you a brief description of what the press release is about.
