| Animated graphics and webpage readablityI think the use of any animated, flashing, etc graphics are a tremendous deterrent to the readable of any website.I realize people often use them to attract attention to something 'important'. I think that results from a failure to understand the intelligence of people. In contrast to using animated and flashing trash... google uses simple plain text and in a small size on their adsense ads. The success of these ads I think is proof that people do read and if something is relevant and interesting pursue it. You don't need obnoxious graphics that detracts from your main content to gather someone's attention on something "important". Please don't forget that what you consider "important" may be different from the person reading your website. Let people discover and enjoy your content without making them dizzy and anxious to hit the back button as fast as they can. |
