No skipping steps Most of the people I see trying to get into the web market are trying to make web sites with engines but spend any effort to avoid writing sites. The SEO engines detect conversions and mass verbiage that is gibberish.
You see a lot of that with RSS Feeds... news articles searched by keywords that gets lots of irrelevent crap. Others that are just various sentences hacked together that read as complete nonsense.
I just reworked 50 files of nonsense for a client. It would have bene easier to write the content from scratch the content was so messd up and the formatting of the test so tight.People still think they can "save" money putting up a bogus site. Istead of doctoring it why not just put the real one up? >???
Well, I would suggest that the reason is, as I have seen it myself, that they really don't know how. They want to put up a site but not sure where to start or how to write it so that it looks good.So they go to these bogus sites and get skins from them and try to re-work what's there and add to it and then it just begins to look like a mess and they don't know what to do to fix it.
If they don't know what they're doing, they really should make an attempt to learn before they jump in there. Do it right the first time so it doesn't have to be fixed later.
Such an important point that. Even when you look at some of the big sites out there, they are spending so much money on redeveloping them using a smarter approach. It's always best to take a step back and do a careful analysis first.
Oh I totally agree. They seem to not think it through to the end before they start. They don't plan out the goal they want to achieve.Unfortunately this is not the way to go. I have seen people who have started out a site one way, then decided to change it in midstream and have lost a lot of the valuable posts that they originally had. By valuable, I mean posts with really good information and lessons in whatever it was they were trying to get across. Then they try to go back and get the original poster to put in what they had written before. Well if they did that to me I wouldn't know where to start because I more or less type as I think and what I say one day on a topic may have some major points and another day lesser points because they just don't hit me as quick or in the same fashion. So basically they end up losing a lot of the material that brought people to their site in the first place.
