| Adding RAM to a laptop I have had some experiences trying to add generic RAM to an older laptop that has resulted in the machine freezing up on a regular basis. I ended up taking it out and throwing it away. Are there any utilities that will reliably determine exactly what RAM is fully compatible with my system? |
| I feel your pain. I have seen this before and it's frustrating. You should go to crucial.com which is a tremendous site that will let you scan your machine and/or put in your model information. You can purchase the RAM through them for an excellent price. |
| I can't believe you're talking about RAM. I tried to remove the RAM on my macbook last night to see what was in there and then it wouldn't go back in properly and my laptop wouldn't boot up correctly. Very frustrating, but I did order new RAM anyway :) |
| I tried to order RAM from Dell for my old desktop which is woefully short of memory thinking it would be the best way to go. Little did I realise that the memory chip technology has changed so much in over the last several years that it was cheaper to buy a new computer! |
