| Article: Internet and Politics The internet have long been the weapon of choice for freedom fighters. They bring their advocacy online, spread the word and gather support from fellow web users that number to the billions.In the recently concluded presidential election in Brazil and the senatorial and congressional election in the US, the internet played a huge role.The Americans, in particular, put the internet to good use. The Grand Old Party (GOP), or simply the Republicans, successfully grabbed the majority in congress. And although it failed to get the senate majority, it managed to slim down the rival party's hold.The success of the Tea Party at one point can be owed to web users who tirelessly populated internet forums and spread word of the Democrat's failure to save the US from its fall.But somehow the internet also made good things for the democrats. Before, when rumors about a party not doing really good for the country, it will mean a sure loss as it will be hard to counter the air of gossip. But with the use of the internet, party involved was swiftly able to wear down the effect of bad mouthing by a few percentage. Read the complete article here: |
