Affiliate Marketing - Affiliate Marketing
Have you had any success with affiliate ads on your site? I have had very little success with affiliate advertising to date. Even on communities that generate a lot of traffic. I know that plenty of people have had success with them though and I was looking for pointers or good articles that shed some light on this.Anybody willing to share some past experiences? Any good links to share with us? There are some sites making some amazing money from these. I just need some guidance please.
In the past I found it much easier to earn good money with Affilate links. That has shifted to PPC.I think it is crazy. With an affilate program you ONLY PAY FOR RESULTS! And if your commission is designed properly, you only pay for success. With PPC you pay regardless of making a sale. I also find that the PPC revenue tends to be about double what affilate revenue is when averaged our per click. I suspect a lot of places that would be making a nice profit selling via an affiliate program are at best breaking even with PPC. You just have to go with the flow.
Are you talking about being the affiliate sponsor subject of the ad or the webmaster of the site that has the ad?
I was talking about being a webmaster.I think any company selling products or services would be aboely out of their mind to use PPC if they were able to develope an active affiliate network. Like the guy complaining about click fraud what he was paying google $8 or so PER CLICK. (See the business week article on click fraud).
That Business Week article was more about landing pages and the way they are used for click fraud. If I'm advertising on a site or a forum such as this one then I have no problem setting up a PPC campaign because I know that the visitors are here for a reason. Not so with landing pages because there are a lot of scams with them. I think PPCs can work great, just have to be a little careful with where they are displayed.
I haven't made a large amount of money but I have done enough to make it worth it. I know a person who is has a blog that is averaging about 2000 a month just through affliate links.
That's incredible. I'm assuming their affiliate links are to products that are being blogged about. For example if it's a sports blog then you'd have sports related links on there because you know the viewers are there for that reason in the first place.
I'd like to see a blog earning money like that from affiliate links. Unless the blog is very focussed it is unusual that people will buy from the affiliate sites on it. Most people go directly to the online site they are looking for when they want to buy something and it is prety rare that they will fall for impulse buying while browsing a blog in my opinion.
I have to agree that the big guys have everything to gain from affiliate programs. They gain free advertising at the 'cost' of giving a tiny percentage of sales generated by the ad back to the website. In most cases it is a one-way street with the website rarely getting anything back for the privilege of displaying the big guys ad on their site.
